We’ll tell you the truth about AI
Where it will earn its place, and where it won’t. Honest advice up front is a great deal cheaper than a build that was never going to work.
AI engineering & advice
Plenty of teams know AI should be able to help them, but aren’t sure where it genuinely fits, what it will cost, or how to build it so it can be trusted. We help you work that out — then build it properly. We know because we’ve shipped our own AI products, not just talked about them.
Where it will earn its place, and where it won’t. Honest advice up front is a great deal cheaper than a build that was never going to work.
We build AI whose answers can be traced back to real evidence, so people can trust what comes back instead of taking a model’s word for it.
Working with models since the early PyTorch days, on top of decades of building software that has to keep running in production.
Why teams call us
The pattern repeats: a team expects too much, points AI at the wrong part of the problem, and ends up with something impressive in a demo but untrustworthy in real use — or a bill that never made sense. The fix is rarely a fancier model. It’s judgment about where AI actually fits, and the engineering discipline to build it so it holds up once real people rely on it.
We start by finding the parts of your work where AI genuinely helps — and naming the parts where it doesn’t.
Grounded answers, human review where it matters, and results you can check — not a black box you have to hope is right.
Designed with the running cost of paid models in mind, so it still makes sense once it’s live and busy.
Proof, not promises
The clearest way to show how we use AI is what we’ve already built with it — two very different products, both using AI carefully and for something real.
Search inside a whole corpus of professional documents and get back the exact page, cell or paragraph that answers your question. When it uses AI, the model is never treated as the source of truth — every answer is tied back to evidence in your own files, so it can be opened and checked. Built accountants-first, but it works for anyone sitting on a mountain of documents.

The demo is read-only — sign in with demo / demo-demo and search freely.
A child speaks an idea aloud and it becomes a short, illustrated story, read back to them. It’s the same skills pointed at a very different audience — and a deliberate demonstration of responsible AI: no accounts, age-appropriate by design, and nothing about the child kept. Using AI well with children is one of the hardest tests of using it responsibly, and it’s one we hold ourselves to.
A child’s voice and idea are sent to our speech and AI providers to create the story; we don’t keep them.
How we work
We do our best work with small, motivated teams who want to explore what’s actually possible — not hand over a rigid spec and disappear. We’re remote-first: a face-to-face intro and setup is welcome, and the work itself happens remotely, so you get senior attention without the overhead.

Whether you know exactly what you want built or just suspect AI should be able to help, describe the problem and we’ll tell you honestly what’s worth doing. If you’re an accounting firm, you can also try Smart Library in our private beta.
